Over the years, many treatments have been tried, with the following as current options:
  • Drugs – Taken orally or through routine injection.
    Effectiveness may be limited.
  • Localized Injections – Drugs injected directly into the plaque.
  • Surgery – Surgical removal of plaque from the penis.
  • Iontophoresis – Low level electric current is used to accelerate drugs through the skin to underlying tissues. This significantly increases the rate of drug administration thereby softening and dissolving plaque.
